Food drive a success
To the editor:
As many of you know, Saturday, May 10, was the day of the annual “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive conducted by the Letter Carriers of the US Postal Service. Once again the response was overwhelming.
We don’t have an exact count of how much food was collected at this time, but it appears to be at least a third of a million pounds in Lee County and Bonita Springs alone.
We thank you for your generosity. Naturally, such a feat could not have been accomplished without the help of the hundreds of volunteers who donated their time, vehicles and hard work to collect and do the preliminary sort of the food; thanks go out to them as well.
If you missed the food drive, it’s not too late to help. You can still bring your non-perishable food to your local post office and we will be happy to get it to hungry families in our area.?
