Beach resident endorses Council candidate
To the editor:
On March 11, we on Fort Myers Beach have a very important election. We will elect three people who will face some very important issues.
For change to be of any value, it needs to be lasting and consistent. The only consistencies in the past few Town Councils have been their inconsistencies.
Talking with my neighbors and friends, many have become apathetic towards our town government. That says a lot about the state of things here.
Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality, and that is exactly what we need right now on FMB -leadership! In my opinion, the person for the job is Anita Cereceda.
Anita has served on the Town Council before (some 18 years ago). Since then Anita has also become a business and homeowner. I have known Anita for seven years, and know her to be fair and open-minded. Her dedication to the beach is apparent if you know her.
Leadership requires integrity, a”sticktoitiveness” approach to problem solving, the ability to delegate and follow up and the capacity to follow through. Anita has these leadership qualities and then some. Fort Myers Beach needs Anita back on the Town Council!
As I first stated: “For changes to be of any value, they’ve got to be lasting and consistent.” And: “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.”
Let’s all remember this when we go to the polls on March 11!

Beach resident endorses Council candidate
To the editor:
Periodically, we each have an opportunity to make a personal contribution to the governance of our Town – by voting for members of our Town Council. If you are like me, you believe that “all politics should be local to the maximum extent possible!” Often our local elections seem less “urgent” or “not as important” as our State and National elections. But it is the decisions made by our Town Council which so often have great and immediate impact on our daily lives.
We need to elect members who understand our Town and who have the proven ability to provide the enlightened leadership that will, to the maximum extent possible, guide our Town forward with the interests of each of us foremost in their decisions.
Fortunately we have a such a candidate. This candidate is Anita Cereceda.
Anita served on our Town Council from 1995 to 2000. She was our first mayor. Anita grew up here, and started a successful business in our Town and understands how important it is to our future that the interests of both our residents and our island businesses be recognized and supported. Anita has always been a uniting influence and will bring back that most important trait and ability.
I have known and worked with Anita since the beginning of our Town. We are fortunate to have such a qualified candidate again willing to devote a significant portion of her time to the service of our community. If you have not met Anita, I encourage you to attend one of her neighborhood meetings and listen to her thoughts and ideas on how to move our Town forward. Anita has provided flyers at the forums with her email and phone numbers so I will share those here as well. Email her at atcfmb@yahoo.com or phone 463-4293.
As always, our Town of Ft. Myers Beach faces numerous decisions and issues of importance to each of us and to our families. This is an important election. We need the proven leadership of Anita Cereceda.
