To the editor:

The March 11th election is quickly approaching. My friend, Rexann Hosafros, is a candidate for Town Council, and I would like to share why I feel so strongly she deserves your vote.

Her qualifications speak for themselves; they are impeccable. Can you imagine the skill it takes to sit as a magistrate and mediate in family court? I have never known her to jump to conclusions. She always listens to everyone’s opinions (even mine), before making a decision. If the issue is in doubt, she researches it. She can be soft spoken, and yet a total dynamo. When she makes a decision, she doesn’t just give it lip service, she acts upon it. This is evident in her work at the library, her church, the Town’s safety committee and her campaign.

Rexann always keeps an open mind, has no hidden agendas, nor is she a “one issue” candidate. As you may have noticed by her signs, she favors the color green. One of her great concerns is water quality (both on the Beach and off). You can often see her in her little green kayak (Kermie) skirting along the Back Bay.

Our Town needs a strong council and strong leaders. Please vote for Rexann Hosafros.

If you care about Fort Myers Beach at all, please make sure Anita Cereceda gets your vote for Town Council.

With the way things have been run lately, our quality of life on this Island is at risk.

Anita is both a business and home owner here on the Beach. She wants FMB to be a “tourist friendly” island while keeping it “home” for us residents.

I remember Anita speaking eloquently during the “Diamondhead” controversy as we sat for eight hours in front of the County Commissioners, who then “figuratively” patted us on the head and let us know that they knew better than we. This was the impetus for our 1995 Incorporation in which Anita was involved.

When it came time to elect a council for our new town, there were 23 candidates. Anita and four others came out on top and, then her fellow council members elected her to be our very first mayor. She did a wonderful job. Anita is very objective and fair minded. I always knew that any decision she made was what she honestly believed was best for the Beach.

She was there when our Charter was drawn up and she cut her teeth on the Land Development Code. Armed with her experience, local knowledge and love of the Beach, I can’t imagine anyone who could do a better job.

Our Town is fortunate to have so many good people running for Council. Every once in awhile you meet someone and immediately recognize they are among “the cream of the crop”. So it was, when I met Rexann Hosafros. I was taken with her positive attitude and quick wit. I was even more impressed later, when I learned of her judicial background and extensive credentials.

Rexann lives across the canal from me. It is easy to see how much she enjoys beach living. If she is not outside gardening, she is either paddling in her little green kayak, or helping her husband restore their rustic sailboat. She must enjoy mowing her yard, because she even mows her neighbors’.

Given her professional accomplishments and her down to earth personality, I would feel very confident having Rexann represent me on Town Council. Please vote for Rexann.
