FMB Civic Association disbands

To the editor:

It is with deepest regrest that we, the Board of Directors of the Fort Myers Beach Civic Association, as of Dec. 31, 2013, have elected to dissolve the Fort Myers Beach Civic Association.

With a sharp decline in membership and lack of new volunteers, it is virtually impossible to keep a volunteer organization running efficiently.

As an association, over the past years, we have been actively involved in Fort Myers Baech activities and town hall actions. It is our hope that in the future the beach would have another citizen organization that will actively serve the island residents.

Our treasury funds have been distributed in equal amounts of $742.93 to Fort Myers Beach Little League, Beach Soccer League, Bay Oaks After School Care program and Find a Home, Give a Home pet adoption.
