Clean water ecological event coming up

1 min read

To the editor:

In an effort to continue to educate the masses of our water quality issues, we will be holding an educational ecological event. The Alliance of the Arts will play host on Feb. 1.

Many speakers will be on hand, eco-art installations from “The River Kids West Coast,” fresh green market, as well as information provided concerning the Lake Okeechobee discharges that destroy out waterways in the summer months. We invite residents and tourists alike to attend this informative event starting at 10 a.m.

As clean water activists, we strive for the notion “stay engaged without the outrage” as our educational method. Many have no idea of how our waters are devastated, our sea life or killed and ill, our oyster population is wiped out at 100 percent and so on during the summer months. Now we have a chance to educate those not in the know, those who are tourists, and those who simply want to learn more of how to help our struggling environment. We ask for your effort to “learn” and to “react” to help save our paradise in lee county. We hope to see you there.
