To the editor:

The Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation, an organization dedicated to improving life in the Fort Myers Beach area through friendship and community service, presented a $2,000 grant to the Friends of Lovers Key, Inc.

The funds were used to design and develop a sign to inform park visitors about the future visitor center FOLKS will be building at Lovers Key State Park and how they can help make The Dream come true. The building will house interpretive exhibits about habitats and animals found within the park, a large meeting and educational room, as well as a gift/bookstore.

The new sign was installed at the tram circle located near the main parking lot at Lovers Key State Park on Dec. 16. FOLKS Building Committee Chair Rich Donnelly and Capitol Campaign Committee Chair Pamela Jones-Morton expressed a big thank you to the Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation Officers: Vice-President, Cheryl Hohmann; Treasurer Nancy Mulholland; and Director, Lois Parker for their organization’s generous support of this project. Also in attendance, to express appreciation were Park Manager, Gloria Beauchamp; Assistant Park Manager, Matt Kruse; and Park Services Specialist, Katie Moses.

Thanks to Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation, the Friends of Lovers Key State Park are now able to share the dream of a visitor center with all visitors of the park.
