Duck Dynasty controversy
To the editor:
OK, are we going to see a flood of Chick-Fil-A style protests over Duck Commander Phil Robertson being canned, demanding A&E hire him back? I seriously doubt it.
In spite of what the ignorant believe, there was no violation of the Constitution, or Phil’s First Amendment rights. He merely stepped on his tongue at work. Something I’m sure we can all relate to.
He was essentially an employee of A&E.?A&E was worried about their profits and didn’t like what he said, so they fired him, simple as that!
Though, personally, I like Phil, I’m sure he will go the way of Anita Bryant and the many bigots before and after her -fading into obscurity like Sarah Palin should have.
Thanks to cuts in education, we have become a nation of Honey Boo Boos and Mud Lovin’ Red Necks, who seem to enjoy these so called “Reality” shows, because it gives them something to relate to and somehow makes them feel less alone.
There is also a not-so-silent minority in this country, who love to make a lot of noise when they feel someone as ignorant as themselves has been wronged. But, the reality is, the more intelligent majority will win out in the end. So, my prediction, in spite of seeing “Duck Dynasty” stuff everywhere in every Walmart, K-Mart and mall, the show will gradually dry up and blow away.
