Local band to be first act in Columbus, Ohio center

To the editors:

I thought local readers might like to know that we are continuing to stay involved with the performing arts. If any of our Ohio friends (and we have a few) are keeping in touch with the Beach and reading this by subscription or online before they return to Fort Myers Beach, take a look at this link: troubadourperformingartcenter.eventbrite.com/.

Capt Carl’s Jazz and Blues Revue, though making their home on the Beach during the winter season will be the first act to open the Troubadour Performing Arts Center in Columbus, Ohio on Nov. 16. We are particularly proud to have Emmy award-winning composer and pianist Dave Powers with us this night and hope some of you Ohio snowbirds can get out to see the show. (It will give you a preview of what you’ll get on the Beach this year as we have been working very hard this off-season to formally arrange some of the originals that have been presented in the past to Beach audiences as stage arrangements.)

We will also have a wider vocal presentation than in the past. Most notably, it is also possible that we will bring Dave Powers to the Beach this season. Dave’s the consummate musician and a hugely dynamic stage performer/vocalist.

This performance for the Troubadours’s inauguration, continues the tradition of involved support for the performing arts manifested over 10 years by myself, The Island Arts Foundation and the Purple Heart Theater, before the venue was closed by Town zoning officials in 2011.

We are looking forward to seeing a few of you Ohioans at the Troubadour and back on the Beach. Watch the Observer and Bulletin for our updated schedule starting early in January.
