Little League president thanks all involved with 2013 season
To the editor:
Now that Little League season is almost over, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has helped make it such a wonderful season. Without everyone’s help it would have been impossible to run this very valuable youth program.
Thank you to our Board members who meet all year, and play more than one role in our programs; our coaches, some of whom coach more than one team to fill the gaps and make no gripes about being at the field five nights a week; to our umpires and concession stand volunteers for your tremendous help at every home game.
Our year started off with a wonderful clinic put on by the Minnesota Twins. A huge thank you goes out to this great organization for their involvement. Shortly after the clinic, Commissioner Larry Kiker donated Spring Training tickets to our league allowing the children to visit real major league games.
Topps Grocery store here on the island donated food for both our opening and closing day celebrations. Our fields were kept in pristine condition by the great staff at the Town.
Our team sponsors consisted of SOB, Waterstone Mortgage, Fish Tale Marina, Santini Marina Storage, Rent This N That, Lions Club, Dairy Queen and Kiwanis.
For those very important cash donations that help keep our league financially afloat, we’d like to thank the Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation and Distinctive Beach Rentals. Also a huge thank you to Al Durrett for helping us with our fundraisers that are such a large part of the Little League, and for all of those who sponsored a child this year.
Without all of you, we would not be able to have this incredible program.
