Beach Chamber seeks volunteers for Bambi project

2 min read

To the editor:

The Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce is in the final stages of bringing to the Beach its mobile visitor information, the Airstream Bambi.

“Bambi” is the model name of Airstream’s smallest travel trailer. The Chamber’s Airstream has been fully converted from travel trailer to a small information center or mobile office on wheels. It is named “Roxie” after Fort Myers Beach community leader and businesswoman, Roxie Smith. It will be positioned both on Old San Carlos Boulevard and in Santini Marina Plaza.

The purpose of the mobile information center is to provide visitors with directions, information on lodging, attractions, shopping and restaurants. The Chamber is now recruiting a group of 40 volunteers to staff the mobile information center in four-hour shifts. Volunteers should live on or near Fort Myers Beach. A sound working knowledge of Fort Myers Beach area businesses is preferred. The Chamber will train and provide all informational tools.

The mobile information center will be open seven days a week hours from 10 a.m. To 6 p.m. Days will be divided into two shifts, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

For more information, or to apply as a volunteer, please call Jane Ross at the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce, 454-7500.
