Prayer needed back in schools

2 min read

To the editor:

Our schools … our precious children. It was just a simple prayer. It took 30 seconds. We stood up, bowed our heads, and the teacher prayed, “God please bless our country and protect it. Please Bless the children, protect them and help them. Amen.”

We, as a nation, acknowledged we needed help and protection.

Congress still prays. Our money has “In God We Trust” printed on it. But, we neglected to realize that we, as a nation, needed to let our children see and hear us pray and ask God to help us. We need to recognize that we need God’s help. Asking God’s help is humbling ourselves, and admitting we can’t do it right without God.

Our nation was founded on depending on the Almighty. We took that out of our schools and look what has been happening.

This is not only happening to our precious children, also to our nation. Horrible describes it. Even our President said evil has hit us.

Only God can protect us from evil. Let us humble ourselves. Turn to God for help; taking a simple 30-second prayer out of our schools has not worked for us. We were a prosperous, free and protected nation. Look at our history for the last 30 years. We are doing something wrong. God can and will help us. We don’t have to be the most prosperous nation ever on earth – that destroyed itself in record time. It’s not just the simple prayer. It is the attitude, as a nation, we need Divine help. We need to show our children that there is One who is greater than their problems. Asking and trusting God to help is a good thing. We can do it.

The first step is to acknowledge we need help. God, please Bless and help and protect our children and our nation. Amen. Selah (pause & think about that).
