To the editor:

What a government here on our island.

We have a mayor who, after five years on the council, didn’t even know what he was paying our town manager. He smeared Charlie Whitehead in The News-Press for using my number for Terry Stewart’s compensation package -nearly $176,000 a year- calling it “wrong” and asked “where on earth” we got such a number. By now, hopefully, he knows we got it from Town Hall’s own public records.

I wonder, will Bob Raymond now write a correction to the News-Press letters to the editor telling all of Lee County that he was wrong, that he actually is paying the town manager nearly $176,000 in salary and benefits?

Is this guy really the best we can do for our mayor?
