An open letter to the FMB Fire Commissioners
To the editor:
I am writing you to inform you of the havoc your recent decision to just take the firemen’s pay in one lump sum has caused.
My husband has worked for Fort Myers Beach for 12 years. He spends countless nights away from his four children to protect and save the citizens of your city. I am a teacher and do NOT get paid for the entire summer. So now, we have no income for our family for the month of July. I guess our children will just not eat!
Thank you for adding this additional stress to my life when I am having heart surgery on July 12, and now have to worry about our finances and consider not having the surgery to save the $200 deductible for groceries.
When a fire board is elected into a position, there is a certain amount of ethics involved.
Are you not supposed to be looking out for the firemen’s best interest as well as the citizens?
Should you not hold grudges and act in retaliation. How are these men supposed to support their families?
I hope the public will see just what kind of a board you are from your recent thoughtless decisions. You are like so many other elected officials without ethics and morals.
