Yet more residents unhappy about the DYS building
To the editor:
Like so many others, my wife and I are also shocked at the DYS building blocking our view as we approach the Beach on the sky bridge. How can this happen? Who approved this thing?
You only get one chance to make a good first impression. The impression we now get as we approach the beach is that the locals must care more about tax revenues from high rises than they care about beautiful views of our waterfront areas. Having lived here year round for more than 14 years, we know that’s not the case for most of us. Given that, why did this construction take place?
We don’t care how pretty the paint job may be on the finished building; it’s still going to block our initial view. As a community, we’ve made good progress in recent years with improving the appearance of our areas. An example is the recent painting of the sky bridge. That was great! It really gives a favorable first impression to our visitors, which, among other things, enhances our tourism business.
The subject high-rise building does the opposite and also detracts totally from the bridge’s tropical paint job. We hope the building owners are happy that they got what they wanted at our expense.
