Tattered flags need to come down

To the editor:

I am an owner at Marina Village at Snug Harbor, and I would like to bring something to the public’s attention.

It is about the flags being flown by the cruise ship, the Fort Myers Princess. There are two American flags that are torn and faded so bad that you cannot even see the blue or the stars on it. There are other flags representing other countries as well and they do not look any better. We have talked to a woman about it, and she said new flags have been ordered, but we feel that these faded and torn flags should be taken down.

Our friends flew in from Texas and on their plane was the casket of a Fort Myers soldier who lost his life fighting for our country and our flag. We tried to get some results by talking to a person we thought was in charge and got nowhere. We have called the American Legion to see if they would step in and now we are writing to you.
