FMB Hands Across The Sand organizers urge participation

2 min read

To the editor:

The one-year anniversary of Hands Across the Sand is here.

Yes, Fort Myers Beach Hands organizers are at it again for another peaceful and meaningful demonstration against offshore drilling and YES to alternative energy solutions. June 25th 2011 is the date slated. 11 a.m. by the pier.

Organizers hope to get the word out early to have the masses of people attend this year’s event as they did last year, which drew over 1,000 likewise minds on our own coastline in a show of support for community and unity. The cry of “Whose beach?, Our beach” will be heard again to promote the ideals of clean beaches for generations to come, while ensuring never to have to experience something as the Deep Water Horizon Oil spill ever again.

I encourage all to be there on Saturday the 25th to again take a stand for the place we call home and of how important our waterways are to us all. Organizers have set up a facebook event page: FMB HANDS ACROSS THE SAND. Search it, click attend and pass the link along to share.

We will see you there for all the right reasons.
