Pedestrian safety needs more attention

To the editor:

As a “snowbird” for 3 months of the year here on Fort Myers Beach, I have suggestions regarding pedestrian safety.

The new markers are too small and need red blinking lights to get more attention. Also, an “Arm Held High, Let Me Pass By” could make pedestrians easier to see at crosswalks and other places where they try to cross. It would be a clear signal of crossing.

Pedestrian safety is a No. 1 priority. I hope this helps.
