Mayor invites all to “Taking to the Streets” project

The City of Fort Myers happily invites all Southwest Florida businesses and constituents to support the “Taking it to the Streets” project. This is part of a regional partner hip of individual, businesses, colleges, advocacy groups and governmental agencies leading a multi-modal transportation awareness-to-action campaign. “Taking it to the Streets” is a nine-day promotion for Transportation Transformation among neighboring counties in Southwest Florida, to move people from talking and into doing, to actually walking, biking, busing, vanpooling, carpooling and, of course, having 1″’1111.
This is a multi-county action project including municipalities, businesses, resorts,
colleges, civic community organizations and individuals. The dates scheduled for the campaign in the City of Fort Myers and Lee County begins April 13, continues through Earth Week and culminates on Saturday April 23, Champions of this campaign will be rewarded for their efforts.
As the Mayor of the City of Fort Myers, I encourage you as an individual, or your
entire organization to take part in this project. This is an opportunity to participate with hundreds of others to promote healthier and less costly transportation alternatives while bringing focus to the improvement of mobility choices and creating a “Sustainable Southwest Florida.” With your participation, we can move forward together as a region.
I am “Taking it to the Streets ” by riding my bike to work and sharing a ride as often as possible, and I hope you take action during this campaign. An individual choice can change an entire community.
