Deacon gives support to candidate
To the editor:
Recently, some of my friends have asked me why I support Carl Conley for Fort Myers Beach Councilman? My answer has been a very simple but direct, “Why not. I think he is the best man for the job.”
In Christian faith, I judge a man by my interaction and personal contact with him. As editor and founder of the Sand Paper he has consistently observed those literary and journalistic ethics needed in a community as tightly knit as Fort Myers Beach.
It is undeniable that there are parts of his life that he wishes had never occurred. But then, who hasn’t? He has given to the community much more than he has taken. One wonders why certain retaliatory sources have failed to release incomplete information and unproven, past allegations. Why has it not been revealed that the records shows he was found innocent of past charges by a jury of his peers?
A clever writer can develop a picture of an unsavory character by innuendo, incomplete sentences and shaded language. His business acumen is illustrated by his 10-year development from scratch.
When you go into the booth, think of the man, his knowledge of the community and the dedication to making our community a better place to live.
