Beach Library stages Open House

On Saturday, March 26, the open house at the Fort Myers Beach Library offered demos, music, tours, door prizes, contests, food, crafts and a book sale.
Clifford the Big Red Dog was there as were 40 library volunteers. I love the library and, in my opinion, this was a Class A event.
However, I attended or observed a dozen events. The average attendance was 5 people. Of course, some patrons came to use the computers, selected materials or just enjoyed themselves. The Library was never crowded.
When the Library expands from 15,295 square feet to an additional 18,295 square feet, we are told by the Board and the Director, “They will come.”
Taxpayers, how do you feel about spending 8 million of your tax dollars for Fort Myers Beach Library expansion?
