Resident eyes council elections
To the editor:
Now that the town is gearing up for the March election, which will again change some of those who fill the important seats on our council, I again see the pros and cons of the political campaigning.
Moving here 15 years ago just as our town incorporated, I found it a privilege to attend many council meetings and watch the process of those having been elected carry out their duties and how each of them diligently prepare for the work ahead of them as well as attend functions, other meetings outside the town’s chambers and attend to calls from their constituents. This election season I have chosen to support all four candidates, as I am most appreciative of their willingness to serve. It is with the above in mind that I write this letter.
My admiration for Tom Babcock is undiminished. The need to fully understand our Land Comprehensive Plan having been in the LPA as well as being diligent in detail when ordinances, zoning matters and residents’ concerns were on the agenda was most evident.
Tom’s thoroughness in being prepared with the matters before him showed his integrity, his motives have always been for what would benefit the town and those who live here. To imply anything else is unthinkable and not part of his upstanding character. Tom deserves acknowledgement for the years he has served our community so well. His time and effort along with the support of his wife is greatly appreciated. Thank you both.
I am a member of the Purple Heart Theater and have attended many of their venues and thoroughly enjoyed them. My hope is that permits required will be obtained and again it can be opened.
