Artist/musician defends theater founder
To the editor:
I am a little late responding to the article about the arrest of Carl Conley and Karen Mills, but I EMPHATICALLY AGREE with Carl’s sentiments about his belief that his betrayal and arrest were politically motivated. There are those in town politics here, who HATE Carl, because Carl is an outspoken man with definite EDUCATED OPINIONS about many issues in and involving Fort Myers Beach and, since he stands STRONGLY on things he believes, he tends to polarize certain people whom do not agree ….. Carl is, as I know him, a VERY passionate man, and NOT diplomatic at all about issues here, he deems important, and hence has created enemies for himself. And knowing Carl Conley as I do, I truly believe that these charges brought against him and Karen, are POLITICALLY MOTIVATED !!!!!!!
Why do I say this???? Well, think on this, Carl, from his own quotes claimed that he was never raided before doing Booze by donation, for many a year, and also I have known of other venues in the area, doing the same thing, and have NEVER been raided by DABT. This is selective enforcement at it’s best, and another case of overbearing Government intervention into private American citizens lives.
