Alliance thanks its student volunteers?

To the editor:

The staff and wide membership of the nonprofit Alliance for the Arts wish to thank the many high-school volunteers who sacrificed their weekend to help make ArtFest Fort Myers a huge success.

Our team joined Publix Supermarket Charities and other sponsors to help create a fun and educational common area next to the performance stage. We couldn’t help but smile when a bubbly bunch of Lee County high-school teens arrived Saturday, asking only what could be done to assist our team.

It was a labor of love, sure, but also much busy work. At the Alliance’s six project tables alone, we counted more than one thousand (children) visitors. The volunteers exhibited great patience and gentle direction piecing together cowboy hats and facemasks and other fun activities. At the event and these following days, I have heard much praise regarding the conduct of our many volunteers. And the parents of these students deserve kudos, as well. It truly takes a village. Along with our many adult volunteers, the Alliance is grateful to those who helped make ArtFest Fort Myers such an outstanding event.

The Alliance for the Arts proudly supports the artists and arts organization in our area as the state designated Local Arts Agency for Lee County. The Alliance for the Arts provides year-round fine art instruction for youth and adults, including summer art programming for kids. The gift-shop and galleries are open from 9 to 5 Monday through Friday and from 9 to Noon on Saturdays, located at 10091 McGregor Boulevard just south of ColonialBoulevard. Visit www.ArtInLee.org for more details of all the excitement our community has to offer.
