Resident endorses Town Council candidate
To the editor:
Carl Conley has filed as a candidate for the Fort Myers Beach Town Council. As a full-time resident of Fort Myers Beach, I believe Carl is qualified to work with the four other Council members to continue the progress our Town has made in its short life. I have watched Carl work as a consensus builder. This, in my opinion, is an important quality to have, as it will enable us to continue with the success of our Council’s agenda.
Carl has been one of the voices of our island during his time as publisher of one of our weekly papers. He is visible and recognized at the County and State level. During his tenure as Chamber of Commerce President, he had the chance to get to know our Commissioners. I was also inspired by his trips to Costa Rico to distribute books to the needy with representatives from the Beach Elementary School.
Carl has been the tireless energy behind the formation of the Island Arts Foundation. This foundation has attracted headline-quality performers to Fort Myers Beach, including Wendy DeWitt, Gary Puckett, Sir Mack Rice and Bo Diddley! This has added to the personality of our island in a very positive way.
I would like to thank Carl for volunteering his time to work for the residents of our island. I hope you will take him up on his offer and elect him to our Council.
