North Estero Boulevard project creates discomfort

As a snowbird from over the seas I am bemused that your newspapers seem to have a case of “The Emperors New Clothes” about the extensive roadworks on Estero Boulevard North.
We’ve been staying here for four weeks and not a peep about it. I can’t imagine just how much income has been lost by the owners of the properties along the road. Who in their right mind would drive up the highway and call in at the Vacant signs when to do so they risk a sand blizzard and broken car axles? Even the trolley has been suspended because the road is too difficult to drive. But, I’ve read nothing about it in your newspapers.
There has been no allowance by the contractors for poor pedestrians who try to get to the 7/11 or Times Square. You have to take your life in your hands and put a mask in front of your mouth, then sprint through the monster machinery. We did notice that after two weeks of dust blowing 40 feet in the air someone had the sense to water the road to damp down the worst of it. Congratulations to the person who is in charge of this fiasco at Thanksgiving – nice timing.
