More support for beach resident

To the editor:

In reference to the letter to the Observer by Dave Wilcox in the Dec. 15 issue, I would like to add my name and some comments in support of Carl Conley to run for a seat on the Town Council.

As founder and editor of the Island Sandpaper for the past ten years, Carl became well known for his forthright, and sometimes, controversial opinions. While he didn’t pull any punches in his editorials, or comments in response to letters he received, I became a great fan because he always listened to both sides and gave equal voice to everyone.

I learned over the years that his positions made a lot of sense. I couldn’t wait to read the next issue of the paper. I was very sad to read that he had sold the Sandpaper. Dave’s letter opened a possible new way for all of us to benefit from Carl’s vast experience and wisdom . . . he might be convinced to run for a seat on the Town Council if enough of us urged him to do so. It is time for each of us to do just that.
