Lee VCB crunches numbers and looks ahead to 2011
To the editor:
As we close the books on 2010, we look back on a year of ups and downs for Lee County’s tourism industry. We are happy to report that for the fiscal year, which closed on Sept. 30, tourist tax collections rose 4.1 percent and visitors staying in paid accommodations grew 5.6 percent.
These increases are testaments to the hard work and dedication of our industry as a whole, and we look forward to additional success in the year ahead.
As we transition into the new year, sincere thanks go to our outgoing Tourist Development Council chairwoman, Lee County Commissioner Tammy Hall, for her strong leadership and dedicated service during the past two years. I hope you will join me in welcoming Commissioner Frank Mann as new chairman of the TDC.
I look forward to working together for a successful 2011.
