IAF founder thanks all who attended function
To the editor:
On behalf of the Island Arts Foundation, I would like to thank all those who
came to our 9th Annual Christmas Concert. Though the weather was a bit chilly
and cajoled us to move the show to the inside stage for the final curtain call,
the enhanced intimacy created a notable camaraderie for dinner, highlighting the
fellowship Island art lovers seem to share so easily.
Many of you have called to say how much you enjoyed the dinner. Karen Mills
spent the better part of two days in the kitchen cooking the holiday repast and,
regrettably, wasn’t able to join in for much of the party, but she sends her
thanks for the compliments and greetings for the season.
We collected quite a few toys for the kids and secured a sponsor to bring the
Edison College Big Brass Band back during the early 2011 season. So, all in all,
it was a fun, productive night.
It was great to see some of our friends from Fort Myers here, especially our
honored friend, Diana McGee, Regional Director for Senator Bill Nelson. Members will recall that Bill’s wife, Grace, was our keynote speaker when the Purple Heart Theater officially opened. We have long appreciated their support for the arts. Having Diana and TIm here made us all grateful for that support.
A special thanks also to General Murphy and his kind wife, Carol. They have
generously supported so many of our events. We also note the impressive
Impossible Pies donated by Barbara Evans – not a bite left and they were
clamoring for more! There were too many members here to mention everyone, but I personally wish all of you the brightest of Holiday seasons and a Merry
Christmas. We look forward to seeing you Jan. 13 when the IAF will resume
activities with Soup Bowl Thursday.
