Conidaris Builders president clarifies
To the editor,
As the President of Conidaris Builders I value my reputation and take my work as a State Certified Underground Utilities Contractor very seriously. Ms. Andrea Groves, of Silver Sands Resort recently wrote a letter to the editor that was full of erroneous statements. If Ms. Groves is going to refer to my company she should at the very least have her facts straight.
In the letter she stressed her ‘unhappiness’ with her meter and water line replacement. She stated that they were ‘fully functional’ and that ‘we create our own work’. I find this very insulting. I would like to know what gives her authority and what credentials does she have to make this statement. We were ordered under the direction and supervision of the Beach Utility Company who are licensed trained professionals. It was their decision that this work needed to be completed.
She also stated that we ‘sliced a cable’. As like any other underground job, it is the LAW to call No-Cuts and have all the underground cables located before we begin digging. This job was no exception. In actuality, the ‘sliced cable’ that Ms. Groves refers to was really just an old abandoned phone line that was no longer in use. She knew this because I had No -Cuts come back out to the jobsite that day and explain this to her in no uncertain terms.
As for the ‘water being off for hours’ it was only off for forty minutes. Ms. Groves was wrong again when she said we had five employees on the job that day. In reality we only had three. Maybe Ms. Groves needs to go back to school and learn how to count and spell again, as our name is Conidaris, not Condaris.
Finally, for Ms. Groves to complain that the utility company was closed that day by 2:30 p.m. due to a family emergency, well that’s just mean.
Sincerely,
Michael Conidaris
