Silver Sands owner unhappy about meter replacement

To the editor:

I had a very eye opening experience yesterday when workers from Condaris Builders came to replace a fully functional meter at my hotel.

When asked why they were replacing it they said that they were going to a digital meter and that the water would be off for 20 minutes. They then proceeded to dig up the line to it and said that it all needed to be replaced. Then they sliced a cable in the ground then they tore up the street.The water that was supposed to be off for 20 minutes turned into hours.I was there when they dug out the pipe, etc. and everything was perfectly fine and not leaking anywhere, but they made their own work.

I was shocked to see the amount of our dollars that were spent for 5 guys, 2 trucks and 4 hours on the clock for this unnecessary job.Then, as the cherry on top, I went to the water company to talk with the supervisor and the sign on the door said closed due to family emergency at 2:30 p.m.

This is not to offend the woman whose husband was having surgery but someone should be minding the store.So if the water company comes to your house, just tell them your meter is fine.
