‘Little Black Dress Night’ a hit with ladies
To the editor:
Fort Myers Beach always has something going on for visitors, beach goers, and businesses…but there’s a new group that’s been enjoying Fort Myers and the Beach!
Once a month for more than a year now, a group of ladies have gotten together for a Little Black Dress Night at our local restaurants. The group is headed up by Karrie Arno, now a full-time beach resident, who, after working out a date with the ‘chosen’ restaurant, starts e-mailing her ever growing group with the information.
A year ago getting 20 ladies to a Little Black Dress Night was a job…but the numbers grew quickly when those attending told friends what a great time they had. The e-mail list is now well over a hundred, and Karrie has cards to hand out to interested people and a helper in Tricia Meyer, who helps to advertise the events to the ladies.
Recently, they expanded to Facebook to advertise…what, when and where, and, to get a body count for the restaurants, some of which included The Sandy Butler, The Road House, The Gulf Shore Grill, Nervous Nellies…and more.
Karrie said ‘It’s great, we’ve had as many as 50 and in every age group. I think it’s going to grow and the restaurants love it. For that night, they are guaranteed a large group who have a great time without getting crazy! And we all love to dance so we make sure it’s a spot with music!’
Usually arriving at the designated spot at around 5:30 p.m., the ladies have cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and enjoy their friends until the music starts and then they all get up and boogie down. It’s a truly fun ‘girls night out.’
Karrie said this month we’re going to Mercedes Grill & Bar because they have a great duo coming in to play for us that night and we’re really excited about it!
So if you enter a restaurant with a large group of ladies dressed in black having a great time…watch out, you may have just walked into a fun evening!
