Fire Board candidate says change is needed
To the editor:
On Nov. 2, everyone will be going to the polls to vote on some very important issues, but the one that is very dear to my heart is who will be elected to Seat #5 for the Fort Myers Beach Board of Fire Commissioners. I am running for Seat #5 and would like to ask for your support and vote.
I was a fire commissioner for two terms and was appointed by the Governor to fill in on a seat that was temporarily vacant. I have been attending the monthly meetings for many years since my last term of office was completed and, to my anguish, I can see that the present board is, for lack of a better word, completely dysfunctional. A few of the commissioners don’t bring the meeting packages to the meetings and simply do not know what is going on or what business is scheduled to be completed or discussed. The chairperson lacks ability to set goals for the board or just does not desire to motivate the members to be proactive. This board needs to be managed. I can set goals and bring teamwork to the board.
The above is just one of many planks in my platform. I intend to inform as many voters as a I can, and I would encourage everyone to attend the Greater Fort Myers Beach Area Chamber of Commerce’s Commotion by the Ocean that will be held on Oct. 14 at Town Hall.
Above all, get out and vote!
