Beach business owner upset over vandalism

To the editor:
Six months ago I planted 5 planters with palm trees in front of Armando’s Day Spa to do my part to beautify our island.
So I have to ask……. Why must our residents vandalize plant life?
We have been a part of this island for the past 10 years, this year marks that anniversary…………. and as everyone knows it has been a struggle these past few years to survive………………. so spending money to make things prettier is hard enough.
Soon after I put the planters outside….one by one they were vandalized and the palm trees torn apart till they were all dead, so a friend suggested I plant bigger trees into the ground and perhaps they would be left alone.
All was well for about 2 months……. ’till recently when I came to work and found one palm tree torn apart with all but one leaf torn off of it………. they even broke the center stalkto try to kill the tree.
I am done buying trees in an attempt to fight these vandals……… they win!
I will leave this tree as is so whoever did this can be proud of their success.
Enjoy your trophy.
