This kind of change isn’t what our country needs
To the editor:
A lot of people were impressed when President Obama talked about change and how he was going to take care of us Americans. Some of us might have been fooled. But I didn’t buy his story for a minute.
First of all there was something about him that didn’t set right with me. I didn’t like the way that he criticized President Bush for one. If you claim to be a Christian, you shouldn’t judge others. And second of all, what kind of father could support killing babies? I wonder if his wife would’ve decided to abort one of his children if he would’ve been supportive of abortion. He bragged about how he was giving us extra money in our paychecks. That lasted several months. But did he broadcast when he took it back from us? I wondered why my paycheck was less, and they were taking out more taxes from me. I looked at my checkbook and noticed from the first of the year they took the same amount of taxes out that Obama gave back to us. But, of course, we didn’t hear about that in the news.
AIG which was one of the companies that he bailed out was actually the insurance company that supposedly was insuring the President and Congressmen. For the first time in 35 years social security recipients didn’t get a raise and they won’t get one next year either. A lot of seniors have had to come out of retirement and go back to work just to make ends meet. From the facts that I have gathered I believe that he is the opposite of Robin Hood. He robs from the poor and gives to the rich.
Another issue is the health care reform. I’m scared to see what is going to happen when that comes into affect. How is he going to determine who can afford health insurance or not? I know that I personally cannot afford it now. And how is it going to affect Medicare? Are we going to go to jail if the government decides that we can afford it even if we know we can’t? Is this country going to turn communist or what?
Then he was in full support of the drilling in the gulf. I don’t believe that any of us had any idea what the consequences could be if certain safety precautions weren’t taken. Apparently there is a valve that was used in Holland and other countries that if implemented could have been shut off immediately to stop the leak. With the turn the economy has taken in the last several years this could be a major disaster for our country. Our environment is in grave danger along with the harm to our wildlife. It’s bad enough that our fishing industry has been hit recently with strict regulations. The tourism industry has also been hit hard as well lately especially here in Southwest Florida. We definitely don’t need anything else to bring us down. I wonder what Obama’s answer to what solution he will have if our beaches are destroyed by this latest catastrophe? I pray for me and my children and my country that he makes the right decision.
