FMB Fire Chief explains himself
To the editor:
Throughout the unforeseen changes in the economy and the financial adjustments that have been made from the budget set in September 2009, the Fort Myers Beach Fire District is managing and adjusting in a very proactive manner. Although early stages of adjusting to the 2010 budget was challenging, fire officials such as management, operations and the fire board have continued to make adjustments and concessions while keeping in mind the livelihood of everyone who has a stake in the District’s welfare.
The task at hand to forecast next year’s budget will be a challenge, but in saying this, it will be a team effort to review every aspect of cutting costs while keeping our service delivery at an optimum level.
With contract negotiations and the board elections in 2010, this year will be one that will need the leadership and perseverance that I will provide to the Board, in the Fire Department and all citizens of the District.
We will work together as a team to bring about a unity for the District assuring all stakeholders and their investment in the District is our number one commitment.
