Trolley lane proposal offered
To the editor:
After listening to all the pros and cons from all those present on how to implement a trolley lane at the Trolley Workshop at Town Hall and watching the traffic flow for the past 23 years of living at Boardwalk Caper, I came up with the following proposal:
1. Leave the center lane as it is for turns, etc.
2. There is only one lane for use leaving the beach to go over the bridge. A second lane starts after you get to the other side of the bridge and continues until you reach Pine Ridge Road. I propose to continue with one lane from Main Street (the outside lane) until you reach Pine Ridge Road and use the left lane for a trolley lane and emergency vehicle lane from Pine Ridge Road to the Beach.
I have seldom seen a backup coming from the Beach that requires two lanes to be used for this stretch of road.
