Resident stands up for dolphin safety

To the editor:

It is that time again when our beaches welcome back the folks up north. It’s good to have them back and hope they will enjoy their stay.

I’ve noticed, however, that many watercraft especially jet skis like to try to get up close to the dolphins and sometimes surround the pod.

While they are beautiful and fun to watch, getting up close or surrounding them isn’t a wise or safe move.

Please jet ski rental companies and others advise your customers against chasing or trying to get close up to the dolphin.
