Congressional Shame

1 min read

To the editor:

Voting ‘yes’ or ‘no’ for or against the health care bill withour reading it reflects the ultimate in arrogant disrespect by congressional representatives. It’s no wonder that Congress has sunk to its lowest respect level in history.

It make no difference if the bill is 2,000 pages or two pages, you’re representing the American people and if you can;t do it responsibly who need you. Obviously, congressional people need a lesson in propriety. Your job is to read the bill, understand it and then vote on however you feel best represents your constituency. If you can’t read it or if you don’t understand it, then do the honorable thing and abstain.

This business of going to Washington and acting as if your responsibility is to babble your way from one election to the next, making deals and without concern for tax-payer interests, is a philosophy that’s worn out and has passed it’s time. We need representatives that are not pompous, arrogant or dumb, and if you’re not going to do the job you’ve been hired for, we will get someone who will. If you want respect … earn it.
