Sand sculpting coordinator offers thanks

Thank you for helping promote the 23rd annual American Sand Sculpting Championship Festival.
As the Master Sculptor Coordinator, I was gratified by our community’s support of the celebrity sculptors appearing at our event. With few exceptions, people did not object to paying a nominal admission fee for the chance to meet the best sculptors in the country and watch them create their amazing works of art.
I am grateful to the members of the Greater Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce for their fearless determination to make this year’s festival a world-class competition, to the sponsors whose financial support helped make it possible, and to the volunteers who worked countless hours throughout the week. The changes we made to this year’s event enabled our competition to be chosen as a qualifier for the World Championships in Federal Way, Wash. We look forward to making next year’s festival even better by addressing traffic and scheduling issues, in response to feedback from festival-goers.
From the artists’ viewpoint, this year’s American Championship Festival was a good experience and a great success. Thanks to you and your staff for your excellent coverage.
