U.S. Congress acting in childish behavior

1 min read

To the editor:

Rep. Joe Wilson was wrong. His outburst while President Obama spoke was rude, uncalled for and served no constructive purpose.

The President -all presidents- deserve absolute respect from the American people, especially elected officials. It’s good that Rep. Wilson quickly apologized to the President, the Congress and the American people. His outburst was obviously a spontaneous reaction to a sensitive issue and only showed him to be a hard-working, serious-minded, human being who feels deeply about his convictions.

Mr. Wilson’s expressions of regret should serve to end the issue, it doesn’t call for any further discussion and for the Congress to belabor the situation at this time when the nation is suffering from the economy, the housing market, from wars and from fears of another 9-11-01… only serves to eliminate respect for our representatives.

The Congress of the United States needs to grow up, stop acting like ‘let’s get even’ children, and start representing us in a way that gives us the feeling that the job is not a game. Grow up fellows, cause if you don’t, we’ll throw you out as soon as possible. You’re not earning our respect.
