AARP no longer viable
To the editor:
The organization AARP has shown itself to be pompous, arrogant, irresponsible and dumb. For the management to betray the membership and endorse the Obama health plan is nothing short of an outrageous demonstration of pinheads at the top choosing to forget what the organization is all about, who is supporting the organization and where allegiances should be directed.
When President Obama said that AARP had endorsed his health care plan, I had thought that the president had misspoken since the plan is clearly disastrous for seniors. I called AARP and asked them if the endorsement statement was true, and I requested a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ AARP refused to answer and, I believe, has taken a sickening position.
The management at AARP has completely lost their responsibility focus. No one hired these blockheads to be our moral conscience. These people are employed to represent the best interests of seniors and nothing more. Any other course of action is a dereliction of our entrusting ways and should be dealt with our absolute scorn.
Unless AARP immediately says, without qualification, that the organization is against the Obama (senior unfriendly) health plan, every member would be wise to resign and there should be no further interest in joining.
The bottom-line message to the arrogant directors must be ‘support the members or your can swing in the wind by yourselves.’ We need to stick together and teach these dimwits a lesson.
