Clunker program deemed strange
To the editor:
Talk about politicians being disconnected, out of touch with realty, insensitive to the poor and disadvantaged and just plain stupid. The ‘clunker’ program has certainly demonstrated how those in Washington have lost sight of the real world.
Millions of Americans are without transportation, and schools across the nation with learn-how-to-drive programs desperately need vehicles for their students. So, why then would any sane individual decide that cars -running and able to fill so many important needs- should be destroyed. It’s absolute madness! It’s an example of the lack of thinking ability in the White House and in the Congress.
And it’s frightening, in light of this, to think that the government wants to run General Motors, Health care and banking.
The real questions are what are they thinking, what are they drinking and how do we put a stop to this insanity before it destroys the fabric of America. This was supposed to be an administration sensitive to the needs of the little guy. Instead, they’ve mortgaged our children’s future; they’ve filled the pockets of the ‘fat cats;’ and they’ve turned their backs on the elderly and the deprived. It’s not a good beginning!
