Local chamber president looks forward
To the editor:
I am not writing to pass judgement on the Fort Myers Beach Town Council either for or against the decision to terminate Scott Janke or the reasons for his termination. This letter is to express concerns regarding where we are and where we are looking to go as a Town.
The Greater Fort Myers Beach Area Chamber of Commerce has had an ongoing interest regarding the projects the Town is looking to do as well as the negotiations for facilities with Lee County government. Specifically, issues regarding the North Estero Boulevard project, Beach re-nourishment, the Town’s water lines useful life, water quality, the Newton property work, negotiations with Lee County regarding the Bay Oaks Center and what is to occur to improve Estero Boulevard are a number of key concerns for our community. These issues need to continue to move forward in an obvious tough budget process that must be decided within the next two months.
Therefore, the need to establish how the Town government will proceed with these pressing issues and the need to return stability in government to the entire community is paramount. This letter is to implore the Council and our citizens to keep (or return) our focus on what we need to get done for our community now.
