Frances R Johnson

Frances R. Johnson, 79, a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend died January 4th, 2017, surrounded by family and friends, after a tough struggle and several days in the hospital.
“Miss Fran”, along with her husband Ralph and daughter Lisa, moved from their home in Massachusetts to begin their new life in Fort Myers Beach in 1977. Together they opened the iconic “Munch Box Restaurant” in 1986, a treasure for over 30 years on the island.
You could often find Miss Fran sitting at table upfront in the Munch Box, rolling silverware, talking to customers, lending an ear or dolling out advice to a friend in need. She had no filter, was sometimes brutally honest, often funny with a quick wit, and completely refreshing! A truly unique soul!
She was known for her amazing desserts, from custard, cream or meringue pies to her peach bread pudding, all handmade and served daily at the restaurant. Sadly, these recipes have gone with Fran to heaven.
She was predeceased by her husband Ralph M. Johnson, survived by her loving daughter Lisa Johnson (Dana), and her sisters Rosemary Bowler and Ann Stearns.
In lieu of flowers, please join us for a celebration of Fran’s life, at the :
