Walter Wah You Gouveia

Walter Wah You Gouveia, age 78, of Fort Myers Beach, FL passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 5, 2015. He was born on September 20, 1936 in Honolulu, Hawaii to the late George and Edith (nee Chui) Gouveia. Walter has resided in the Ft. Myers Beach area for the past 9 months coming from San Diego, CA, where he spent most of his adult life. He was a Viet Nam Era Veteran of the United States Navy with 30 years of service. He worked many years as a UDT-Seal for the US Navy. Walter was a parishioner at Church of the Ascension, Fort Myers Beach, FL and a life time member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and the National UDT-Seal Museum in Ft. Pierce, FL. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Gilbert and Gordan Gouveia. Survivors include his loving wife Eileen; 5 children, Brian (Donna) Gouveia of La Junta, CO, Marina Gouveia of Truckee, CA, Alicia (Paul) Sigmon of Bowling Green, VA, Mililani (Donald) Dunlon of Petaluma, CA and Amanda Matti) of Bowling Green ,VA; 1 sister Georgieana Castro of Fairfield, CA; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and 4 loving dachshunds, Pele Ehu, Opae Ele, Kane Nui and Lokelani. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM, Friday, January 16, 2015 at Church of the Ascension, 6025 Estero Boulevard, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National UDT-Seal Museum, Fort Pierce, FL in loving memory of Walter Wah You Gouveia.
