Billie B. Saunders

Billie B. Saunders, born Oct. 1, 1925, passed away July 25, 2013. Billie served in the Navy during WWII. He was a Pharmacist mate on the USS Ticonderoga, marrying his wife, Betty, June 12, 1949.

Billie moved his family to Fort Myers Beach in 1958, and became a Fort Myers Beach Little League coach and Fort Myers Beach Babe Ruth coach in the 1960s. He was a loving husband, always working hard to provide for his family, and a kind and gentle man whose smile would light up the room. He has touched the hearts of so many through the years. Billie was a good role model and is loved and respected by many.

He leaves behind his son William L. Saunders, daughter Bev Lacondrata (Tope), son-in-law John Lacondrata, grandchildren Wendy Stetson and husband, George; Jennifer Gozales and husband, Joey; Holly Kearns; Johnny Lacondrata and his wife, Dawne; as well as nine great grandchildren, and many others who called him “Grandpa.”

He is preceded in death by his lovely wife, Betty L. Saunders, who left this earth May 31, 2004.
