August F. Bradfish was a beloved husband of nearly 54 years to Helen (nee Hinkel), loving father of Julie M (Greg) Schnier of Burlington, N.C., Cynthia K. of Hudson, Ohio and Kurt A. (Desma) of Grand Junction, Colo. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, August II. He was a devoted grandfather of Andrew and Kelly Bender and Katie Bradfish.

Bradfish was a loving brother of Ruth (Paul) Connolly of Indianapolis and Albert (Rose) Bradfish of Loveland, Ohio. His sisters Jonada (Adams) and Louise (Ruescher) preceded his death. He has many nieces and nephews who were all very dear to him.

After finishing his education at the University of Cincinnati, he was a partner in Harry Balke Consulting Engineers in Cincinnati and later joined the Oglebay Norton Company in Cleveland, retiring as Vice-President of Coal and Non-Ferrous Mining Operations in 1994. He then became an ambulance driver for the Hudson Volunteer Emergency Medical Service for eight years, which gave him the great satisfaction of serving the community that was so wonderful to his family for over 30 years. His EMS friends have been special.

Always the frustrated builder, Bradfish purchased a home on Fort Myers Beach in 1997, and spent the next 14 years adding rooms and improving the property, finally becoming a Florida resident. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion on Fort Myers Beach.
