Harry W. Bond Obit

Harry W. Bond of Powers Lake, Wisc., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at his home in Wisconsin. He was 74 years old.

Bond was born Aug. 23, 1934, in Chicago. The son of the late Thomas and Loretta (Bethke) Bond, he had lived in Antioch and the Nippersink Creek area before retiring to Fort Myers in 1994 and spending summers at his home in Wisconsin. Bond was a mechanic, general contractor and ironworker. He had owned Bond Construction, Bond Steel Erectors and was a proud member of the Iron Workers Local #1 of Chicago. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and American Legion of Fort Myers. His special interests included race and vintage cars.

On April 23, 1952, he married Romona Biegalski in Chicago. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Romona; his children, James of Richmond, Ill., Susan (Greg) Campbell of Antioch, Ill., Linda (James) Divorcek of Salem, Wisc., Daniel of Lake Geneva, Wisc. and Harry P. (Heather) of Richmond, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Virginia (Donald) O’Neill and Margaret Bond. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Patrick, Joseph and Thomas.

Harry spent eight to nine months of the year in Fort Myers. He owned four or five homes during his life in the area. He loved playing cards and frequenting the Surf Club and cottage. He will be missed.
