2 min read

Due to the upcoming expected cold weather, The Salvation Army of Fort Myers announced it will be extending its cold weather activation at the Center of Hope at 2400 Edison Avenue through Wednesday morning February 4, 2026.

“With the severe cold weather forecasted for this weekend and beyond, The Salvation Army is working collaboratively with Lee County Emergency Management, the Lee County Department of Human & Veteran Services and other partner agencies to provide warmth and shelter to those experiencing homelessness,” said Major Ethan Frizell, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Fort Myers. “We are extending our cold weather activation through Wednesday morning and welcome people to stop in and stay awhile.”

The Salvation Army’s Center of Hope located at 2400 Edison Avenue will be open as a warming station and shelter through Wednesday Feb. 4. The Salvation Army will provide a limited number of single beds on a first-come, first-served basis for individuals seeking relief from cold weather conditions. Shelter availability began the afternoon of Monday January 26 and is now extended through the morning of Wednesday February 4. Individuals in need of shelter are encouraged to arrive for intake between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at 2400 Edison Ave., Fort Myers, FL 33901.

Due to the multiple cold weather emergencies this season, The Salvation Army is in need of towels, washcloths and hygiene items (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.). Donations of these items can be dropped off at 2400 Edison Avenue between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In a time when many individuals and families are facing hardship, The Salvation Army remains dedicated to providing support and hope to our neighbors in need. We are thankful for the generous donors and volunteers who help make this possible.
