Keep Lee County Beautiful mourns loss of longtime leader Rudy Busch
Keep Lee County Beautiful, Inc. announced the passing of Rudy Busch, former Executive Director, who died Nov. 17.
In an announcement of Busch’s death, the organization credited him with “laying the groundwork for many of the environmental and recycling initiatives that still benefit Lee County today.”
Busch devoted 25 years to leading Keep Lee County Beautiful. “Under his leadership, the seeds were planted for county-wide recycling efforts, helping bring organized recycling to Lee County beginning in the early 1990s. His early stewardship helped launch and build programs that have evolved into critical services for our community,” the organization said in a statement.
“Keep Lee County Beautiful owes much of its foundation to Rudy’s commitment, vision and perseverance,” said Keep Lee County Beautiful Executive Director Trish Fancher. “He believed deeply in the idea that communities thrive when people come together to care for the places they call home. That belief drove his work for decades.”
Rudy’s wife, Connie Busch, remains an active volunteer in the “GO GREEN” Golf Fundraiser. Their daughter, Chrissy Busch-Whitehead, serves on the Keep Lee County Beautiful Board of Directors representing Coastal Waste & Recycling.
